SAN DIEGO THEATRE SCENE
Our Town
by Jenni Prisk
Issue #202, Feb 19, 2005

Speaking of our times, the staged reading of The Land Southward by Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company and the Peace and Democracy Action Group at the First UU Church, most certainly spoke to one of the biggest threats of our time, nuclear fallout. The well-researched, shocking new play by talented Darcy Hogan was skilfully directed by Esther Emery. and featured some of our superb actors...Jim Chovick, Robert Dahey, Jason Heil, Jennifer Eve Kraus (left), Adnrea Maida, D'Ann Paton and Siobhan Sullivan (good to see her back on the stage after a long absence).

The full house was disturbed by the unfolding of the true story of the effects of nuclear detonation as it decimated and disabled families in southern Utah, all the while being covered by the lies of the Government and the law of God through the Church of the Latter Day Saints. Told without histrionics, but through a heartrending story line, the audience quickly understands the atrocities played out on the stage. A panel discussion following the reading with members of the Alliance for Nuclear Responsibility (www.a4nr.org) shed light on the terrible fact that the US Administration wants to reopen the Nevada test site (that was responsible for the tragedy in the play) and reactivate testing!!

The Land Southward will run as a staged production in Orange County, beginning April 1, produced by Hunger Artists. More Information at: 714-680-6803
