Tuesday, November 23, 2004- San Diego, CA- Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, San Diego's only theatre organization dedicated to creating, producing and educating, announced today its artistic director, Seema Sueko, has received the Artistic and Cultural Achievement Award for 2004 from the San Diego chapter of the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC).

The award was given in recognition of Sueko's ground breaking play Remains; the incredible work Sueko has done to address the complex issues of the Middle East conflict; and her efforts to build bridges between diverse communities and cultures through Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company. Remains was written and produced by Sueko and served to educate the San Diego community about the cultural, political, and human dimensions of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"I am so honored to be recognized by ADC," said Sueko after receiving the award during ADC's annual awards banquet on Friday November 19. "I wrote this play because I believe in theatre's power to educate and create change in the community, and I'm thrilled that our audience recognized and supported our efforts."

In addition to forming her own theatre company, Sueko's outstanding acting talents were recognized earlier this year with incredible reviews in The Old Globe's production of The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. Sueko just returned from Yale Repertory Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut where she also starred in The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. She is currently working with the Mo`olelo team to plan and fundraise for the 2005 season.
