September 21, 2004- San Diego, CA- Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, San Diego's newest professional
theatre organization dedicated to creating, producing and educating, announced today its artistic director,
Seema Sueko, will revive her role as Jennifer Marcus in "The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow" at Yale
Repertory Theatre in New Haven, Connecticut. Sueko's outstanding acting talents were recognized earlier this
year with incredible reviews in The Old Globe's production of the show, and she is thrilled to be chosen for
Yale's run.
As the 1991 recipient of the Tony® Award for Outstanding Regional Theatre, Yale Repertory Theatre has
mounted over 90 world premieres, including four Pulitzer Prize winners. Ten Yale Rep productions have moved
to Broadway, earning an additional nine Tony® Awards and 37 Tony® Award nominations.
Sueko is currently starring in Mo`olelo's well-reviewed play, Remains, also written and produced by her. As
Yale
rehearsals begin in late September, Janet Hayatshahi will replace Seema in the role of Laila beginning
Thursday, September 23rd. Remains runs through October 3, 2004, with shows Thursdays- Saturdays at 8PM
and Sundays at 2PM at the Ark Center for Performing Arts.
"I'm so thrilled to have the opportunity to work at Yale and spread the word about Mo`olelo and San Diego
theatre on the east coast," says Sueko. "This is also an excellent opportunity for me as a playwright to see
Remains take on a different life with another actress in the lead role."
Janet Hayatshahi is currently the Associate Artistic Director and an ensemble member of Sledgehammer
Theatre. Past Sledge shows include: Macbeth, NU, [sic], BerzerkergC$ng, Richard III, Furious Blood, and
Phenomenal Acceleration. Chicago credits include: The Knights of the Round Table and The Infernal Machine

Repertory Company. Janet attended the Pacific Conservatory of the Performing Arts, received a BFA in Acting
from Ithaca College, and an MA in Theatre from SDSU. She is currently a part-time faculty member at SDSU
and Grossmont College. Catch Janet in A Dream Play at Sledgehammer, opening this October 16th.
