Seema Sueko, Artistic Director and co-founder of Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company,
Plays a lead role at The Old Globe

June 2, 2004- San Diego, CA- Mo`olelo Performing Arts Company, a start up theatre group dedicated to creating, producing and educating, announced today that co-founder and Artistic Director Seema Sueko will appear in the lead role in The Old Globe's upcoming production of The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow by Rolin Jones, directed by Kirsten Brandt.

To capitalize on Seema's appearance and expand fundraising efforts for its inaugural season, Mo`olelo will host "Mo`olelo Night at The Old Globe" on Thursday, July 15. Tickets are $52.50 each and include a reception at 6:30 PM in The Old Globe Rehearsal Halls, followed by an 8:00 performance of The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow. All proceeds benefit Mo`olelo's 2004 season, which launches September 10 with the world premier of Remains, a semi-autobiographical tale written by Seema about the Israeli Palestinian conflict.

"It's a tremendous honor for me to work at The Old Globe," says Seema. "I'm incredibly appreciative of their support for Mo`olelo and their help with this fundraiser."

In The Intelligent Design of Jenny Chow, Seema plays 22-year-old Jennifer Marcus- an agoraphobic, obsessive-compulsive young woman with an IQ off the charts. She spends her entire life in her room in front of a computer screen, with only her adoptive parents, her online companions, and an occasional visit from the pizza delivery guy for company. In a quest to learn more about her biological parents, she builds a fully functioning robotic replica of herself, "Jenny Chow," who helps Jennifer make the "virtual" connections she needs to discover her Chinese birth mother, and ultimately her own sense of self.

Seema was particularly drawn to the script due to its focus on the issues surrounding adoption, a subject being researched by Mo`olelo for their play-in-development, titled "The Adoption Project", slated for a reading in 2005.
