Why Mo`olelo?
While it may sound strange, the name was carefully chosen by the founders to reflect the company's mission and objectives. Mo`olelo is the Hawaiian word for story, legend, tale or narrative. At Mo`olelo, telling good stories is what we strive to do, recognizing the power of personal narrative to affect change in society. In addition, the co-founders were raised in Hawaii, and wanted to reflect the theatre companys value for multiculturalism in the arts by selecting this Hawaiian word. So thats why Mo`olelo Funny word, good theatre.

How do I order tickets?
You can buy tickets online by clicking here. There are no processing fees for buying tickets online. To order by phone, call 619-342-7395. You may pay by check, VISA or MasterCard.

What are your ticket prices?
General admission is $25 usually. Groups of 10 or more, students, seniors, and members of Actors' Equity or Actors Alliance may receive a $20 ticket rate. Early bird order specials or discounts for dress rehearsal or previews are sometimes available. Check the specific show for more details.

Are all sales final?
Yes. Tickets may be transferred to another performance, space permitting, for a $5 fee by calling 619-342-7395. This fee is waived for our patrons who have contributed at the $100 or higher level within the last 12 months.

What if I miss my performance or arrive late?
If you miss your performance, every attempt will be made to transfer your tickets to another performance, space permitting. Late arrivers may not be seated until intermission, space permitting.

Where is Mo`olelo located?
Mo`olelo is a "gypsy" theater company, and we rent different venues for our productions. To reach the office, please call (619) 342-7395.

Why are recording devices not allowed?
Our actors are protected by the rules and regulations of Actors' Equity Association, the union of professional actors and stage managers in the United States, which ensure that an actor's work is not recorded, re-sold, or distributed without their permission or compensation. Further, flash photography is distracting and poses a danger to the actors during a performance.

Can I bring food in the theater?
Depending on the venue Mo`olelo is renting, sometimes the landlord allows patrons to bring coffee or water in the theater. Each venue we use has their rules. Please check with the house manager or ushers on this matter when you arrive. Please do clean up after yourselves when you leave the theater.

Is that an apostrophe?
Did you know that what you might think is an apostrophe in Mo`olelo is actually an `okina? Look! Its pointing the other way to the right. You can find it on your keyboard on the same button as the ~. A Hawaiian glottal stop, the `okina indicates the reader should take break in breath, as in "oh-oh!" or "Mo`olelo." Take a breath. Pause. Ponder.
